The Spinach alternative for teams who wanted a scrum master, not a note-taker
Spinach is a strong AI meeting assistant. It joins the call, transcribes it, summarizes by meeting type and turns spoken commitments into tickets. Everything it knows comes from a meeting. Troopr forms its own view of the team from real Jira, GitHub and Slack activity, writes the standup whether or not a meeting happens, and proposes the ticket changes the owner confirms in one tap.
Free for 10 seats, standups included. No credit card, no annual commitment.
Trusted by 600+ engineering teams worldwide
Spinach called itself an AI scrum master, and for a team that keeps its meetings it earns the name on the documentation side. Where it stops is between the calls. Troopr is built for one job, the Slack-and-Jira coordination workflow, running the issue lifecycle both ways in the channel with a confirmation step before anything is written. Every feature, on every plan, including Free.
Two-way thread sync, comments and attachments in both directions
The standup drafts itself from real Jira and GitHub activity, no meeting required
Confirm before write: the owner taps Confirm, the change runs as them
Free for 10 seats with the Jira integration included, not gated to a paid tier
A record of the meeting, or a view of the team
A call is one data point from one half hour. The sprint happens in the other nine and a half days.
The standup that writes itself
Troopr drafts each person's update from their own Jira and GitHub activity, including what the diffs actually changed, and posts it to the channel. It asks someone directly only when it genuinely cannot tell what they are working on. Nothing waits for a meeting to be held, recorded or processed.
When it does join the call, it checks what was said
Troopr joins on Google Meet, Zoom or Microsoft Teams, announces itself, listens with speaker attribution and posts the recap. Because it already holds the live state of the work, the recap flags the ticket called done whose pull request is still open, and names what is genuinely new versus already tracked.
The thread becomes a working surface
Tickets created from spoken commitments is a useful start, and it stops there. In Troopr, replies become Jira comments, Jira comments come back, and files move both ways. A channel can be paired with a Jira project, and people without a Jira licence still take part.
Confirmed writes, not a transcript artefact
Every Jira change Troopr proposes goes to whoever owns the work, gets revalidated against live Jira the moment they confirm, and runs under their own login. It happens the day the work happens, not the next time the team gets on a call.

Spinach capabilities and pricing verified against spinach.ai/pricing and Spinach's own published comparisons, 12 October 2026. "Not documented" means Spinach's own materials do not describe the capability; it is not a claim the behaviour is impossible, and we will change any row Spinach documents. Troopr capabilities per Troopr product documentation.
Grounded in the call, or grounded in the work
Both summarise a standup. The difference is what each one had access to before it started writing.
Grounded in the call
Spinach is excellent at what it does. It captures the meeting, summarises by meeting type, pulls out decisions and action items, and pushes them into Slack, Confluence and your tracker. The limit is structural rather than a quality problem: the model knows what was said in that room, in that half hour, so a blocker nobody voiced and a ticket that quietly stopped moving are both invisible to it.
Grounded in the work
Troopr reads the work continuously. Issues, transitions, comments, pull requests and commits, including what the diffs changed, so a vague commit message does not hide real work. It knows what moved since yesterday, which spoken claims the data supports or contradicts, and what is genuinely new rather than already tracked. When it does sit in a standup, that history is what the recap is checked against.
What it looks like at scale
86%
of weekly status-meeting time eliminated
Snowflake's engineering teams run async Check-ins in Slack with Jira context compiled into the report, instead of context-switching to a status call.
engineering, Jira Cloud
67%
less time finding and updating Jira issues
Netflix runs distributed engineering on hosted Jira. Their internal security team cleared Troopr before rollout, which is usually the longest part of any adoption.

The privacy posture is a precondition of the product, not a later add-on. It's what makes an AI-native model safe to put in front of your team and your auditors.
- No training on customer data. Your work never trains a model.
- No storage of raw messages. Troopr derives and persists a structured set of facts about how your team works, not the raw firehose.
- Clear scope. Team channels, connected work tools, and a person's own shared activity. Troopr does not read other people's private DMs.
- OAuth and Jira permissions. Troopr authenticates via OAuth and never bypasses your Jira project, issue, or field permissions.
Troopr vs Spinach, answered
The source of the information. Spinach knows what was said on a call. Troopr knows what moved in the tracker, what shipped in the code and what was raised in a thread, and it holds that view between meetings, so it can tell you on a Wednesday that a ticket marked done has an open pull request. A scrum master who only knows the standup is not much of a scrum master.
As of 12 October 2026, Starter is free, Pro is $2.90 per meeting hour with unlimited users, Business is $19 per user per month billed annually or $29 monthly, and Enterprise is custom. The Jira integration requires Pro or Business rather than Starter, and there is a 14-day Pro trial with no credit card. Check their pricing page before deciding, since this moves.
For the standup and the coordination around it, yes. For meeting transcription across the whole company it is a different category, and Spinach is better at that than we are. Plenty of teams keep a note-taker for their other meetings and run the standup on Troopr.
Yes, on Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. It announces itself, listens and posts the recap, and does not speak or facilitate. The recap is cross-referenced against live Jira and GitHub state rather than being a transcript of the call, and transcripts are deleted after 30 days.
Run the coordination, keep the board accurate
Keep the note-taker for the meetings you are keeping. Add the two-way sync, the scheduled reports, the nudges and the standup that writes itself from what actually shipped, with or without a call. In Slack and MS Teams. See it on your team in minutes.
