The Polly alternative for teams who need a standup, not a poll
Polly is an excellent polling app. It added standups to a product built for asking questions, so a standup is still a form each person fills in, and it sits on a paid tier. Troopr forms its own view of the team from real Jira, GitHub and Slack activity, writes each update itself, and proposes the ticket changes the owner confirms in one tap.
Free for 10 seats, standups included. No credit card, no annual commitment.
Trusted by 600+ engineering teams worldwide
Polly and Troopr both post something to a channel on a schedule, and that is where the similarity ends. Polly asks a question and counts the answers, which is what a polling platform is built to do well. Troopr is built for one job, the Slack-and-Jira coordination workflow, running the issue lifecycle both ways in the channel with a confirmation step before anything is written. Every feature, on every plan, including Free.
Two-way thread sync, comments and attachments in both directions
The standup drafts itself from real Jira and GitHub activity
Confirm before write: the owner taps Confirm, the change runs as them
Standups, retros, poker and team mood free for 10 seats, nothing on a higher tier
A question engine, or a view of the work
A standup built on polling infrastructure can collect answers beautifully. It still does not know what the team did.
The standup that writes itself
Troopr drafts each person's update from their own Jira and GitHub activity, including what the diffs actually changed, and posts it to the channel. It asks someone directly only when it genuinely cannot tell what they are working on. Nobody fills in a form, and nobody writes a status from memory.
The ceremonies, included rather than unlocked
Automated standup, task check-in, retrospective, planning poker and team mood all run on every plan including Free, at each person's own local time, with anonymous participation where the team wants it. None of it sits behind an upgrade.
The report carries the work, not just the answers
Each person's Jira activity attaches to their response automatically and issue keys unfurl with summary and link. The report opens with a read on the day and a flow line covering in progress, in review, ready to deploy and shipped since yesterday, then names specific people and specific items that need attention.
Confirmed writes, not a collected answer
Every Jira change Troopr proposes goes to whoever owns the work, gets revalidated against live Jira the moment they confirm, and runs under their own login. A standup that only records answers leaves the board exactly where it was.
Troopr vs Polly for engineering standups
Scoped to the standup and the coordination around it. The first two rows are Polly's ground, not ours.

Polly capabilities and pricing verified against polly.ai/slack-pricing, 7 October 2026. "Not documented" means Polly's own materials do not describe the capability; it is not a claim the behaviour is impossible, and we will change any row Polly documents. Troopr capabilities per Troopr product documentation.
Collecting answers, or forming a view
Both post an update to a channel every morning. The question is where the content came from.
A very good question engine
This is what Polly is built for and it shows. Polls, surveys, quizzes, trivia and Q&A across Slack, Teams, Zoom, Meet and presentation tools, with a large template library and real-time results. If your problem is gathering input from people quickly and across a lot of surfaces, Polly is a fair answer, and its free tier covers polls.
The view a form cannot produce
A standup assembled from answers is only as good as what people remembered to type. Troopr holds the team's history and live Jira and GitHub state, so it knows what moved since yesterday, which claims the data supports or contradicts, and what is genuinely new rather than already tracked. A ticket marked done with an open pull request shows up as a contradiction, not as a line someone wrote.

86%

Snowflake's engineering teams run async Check-ins in Slack with Jira context compiled into the report, instead of context-switching to a status call.

Netflix runs distributed engineering on hosted Jira. Their internal security team cleared Troopr before rollout, which is usually the longest part of any adoption.

The privacy posture is a precondition of the product, not a later add-on. It's what makes an AI-native model safe to put in front of your team and your auditors.
- No training on customer data. Your work never trains a model.
- No storage of raw messages. Troopr derives and persists a structured set of facts about how your team works, not the raw firehose.
- Clear scope. Team channels, connected work tools, and a person's own shared activity. Troopr does not read other people's private DMs.
- OAuth and Jira permissions. Troopr authenticates via OAuth and never bypasses your Jira project, issue, or field permissions.
Troopr vs Polly, answered
No. On Slack, the free plan covers polls with 45 days of results history. Surveys and standups start on Basic at $19 per licence per month, billed annually. Troopr's free plan includes the automated standup, task check-ins, retrospectives, planning poker and team mood for 10 seats.
For the standup and the coordination around it, yes. For polls, trivia and engagement surveys it is a different category, and Polly is better at that than we are. Plenty of teams keep Polly for polls and run the standup on Troopr. The two do not overlap on anything that would conflict.
As of 7 October 2026, on Slack: Basic is $19 per licence per month billed $228 annually, Pro is $29 per licence billed $348 annually, Team is billed annually for five licences, and Enterprise is on quote. Licences count people who create, not people who answer, and there is no month-to-month paid plan. Microsoft Teams is priced separately. Check their pricing page before deciding, since this moves.
Usually because the standup is a form. Polly asks each person the questions and counts what comes back, so the quality of the standup tracks how much time each person felt like spending on it, and nothing in the report knows whether the ticket actually moved. Troopr reads the work first and writes the draft, then proposes the Jira changes that follow for the owner to confirm.
Run the coordination, keep the board accurate
Keep the polls if the team likes them, and add the two-way sync, the scheduled reports, the nudges and the standup that writes itself from what actually shipped. In Slack and MS Teams. See it on your team in minutes.
