The Status Hero alternative that does the Jira work, not just the reading
Status Hero became Steady in January 2024, and the pricing moved to Coordination Credits spent per delivery and per token. Steady reads your activity and distributes the context. Troopr forms its own view of the team from the same signal, writes the standup, and then changes the board: threads sync to Jira both ways, and nothing is written until the person who owns it taps Confirm.
Free for 10 seats, standups included. No credit card, no annual commitment.
Trusted by 600+ engineering teams worldwide
Status Hero rebranded to Steady on 24 January 2024, moving to runsteady.com with existing logins and API endpoints kept working. Two things changed that matter when you are choosing a replacement: the pricing became usage-based credits rather than per user, and the product moved up a level from a team check-in tool toward a company-wide coordination layer. Troopr went the other way, deeper into one job: the Slack-and-Jira coordination workflow, running the issue lifecycle both ways in the channel with a confirmation step before anything is written.
Two-way thread sync, comments and attachments in both directions
The standup drafts itself from real Jira and GitHub activity
Confirm before write: the owner taps Confirm, the change runs as them
Free for 10 seats, and what a routine produces is never metered
A reading layer, or a working surface
Steady distils activity into context and delivers it. The ticket is still where you left it.
The standup that writes itself
Troopr drafts each person's update from their own Jira and GitHub activity, including what the diffs actually changed, and posts it to the channel. It asks someone directly only when it genuinely cannot tell what they are working on. The report opens with a read on the day, a flow line and a needs-attention section naming specific people and specific items.
The thread becomes a working surface
This is the part a digest cannot do. Replies become Jira comments, Jira comments come back, and files move both ways. A channel can be paired with a Jira project, people without a Jira licence still take part, and there are thirteen ways to create an issue without leaving chat.
Reports and nudges, built in
Burndown, velocity and any JQL you like, posted to the channel on a schedule with the action buttons attached. Stale and overdue issues get a nudge aimed at the one person who can move them. The board gets worked on a cadence, and none of it is metered per delivery.
Confirmed writes, not a delivered summary
Every Jira change Troopr proposes goes to whoever owns the work, gets revalidated against live Jira the moment they confirm, and runs under their own login. If it stopped being true while it sat there, it says so instead of writing.

Steady capabilities and pricing verified against runsteady.com/pricing and Steady's own published materials, 12 October 2026. "Not documented" means Steady's own materials do not describe the capability; it is not a claim the behaviour is impossible, and we will change any row Steady documents. Troopr capabilities per Troopr product documentation.
Distilling context, or doing the work
Both read your activity and both draft. The difference is what happens after the draft.
Context, distributed
Steady is the closest competitor in ambition and it is well built. It pulls activity into one place, drafts the check-in, distils everything into targeted context and delivers it across chat, email and the web, now including updates from AI agents alongside people. What it produces is a reading surface. The work carries on in your tracker, and the tracker is still yours to maintain.
Context, acted on
Troopr forms the same kind of view and then uses it. The standup moves the board, the thread syncs to Jira both ways, and the proposals that follow land with whoever owns the work for a one-tap confirm. For a team whose channels are where tickets get triaged, refined and closed, Troopr is the workspace and a digest is the newsletter.
What it looks like at scale
86%
of weekly status-meeting time eliminated
Snowflake's engineering teams run async Check-ins in Slack with Jira context compiled into the report, instead of context-switching to a status call.
engineering, Jira Cloud
67%
less time finding and updating Jira issues
Netflix runs distributed engineering on hosted Jira. Their internal security team cleared Troopr before rollout, which is usually the longest part of any adoption.

The privacy posture is a precondition of the product, not a later add-on. It's what makes an AI-native model safe to put in front of your team and your auditors.
- No training on customer data. Your work never trains a model.
- No storage of raw messages. Troopr derives and persists a structured set of facts about how your team works, not the raw firehose.
- Clear scope. Team channels, connected work tools, and a person's own shared activity. Troopr does not read other people's private DMs.
- OAuth and Jira permissions. Troopr authenticates via OAuth and never bypasses your Jira project, issue, or field permissions.
Status Hero and Steady, answered
Not under that name. Status Hero rebranded to Steady on 24 January 2024 and moved to runsteady.com. The company kept existing logins and API endpoints working through the change, and the product has since moved toward company-wide coordination including updates from AI agents.
Steady charges for usage rather than users, through Coordination Credits. Packs run from 500 credits at $25 a month up to 25,000 at $1,250, and credits are spent on both context deliveries and LLM token usage. A Smart Check-in delivery costs one credit per recipient, a Team Summary one credit, a Goal Story update five. Adding users is free, with 100 bonus credits each. Check their pricing page before deciding, since this moves.
Usually one of three reasons: the pricing model moved from per user to usage-based credits with no free plan, the product moved toward a company-wide digest rather than a team check-in tool, or the team wanted something that changes the tracker rather than reporting on it.
For an engineering team on Jira and Slack, yes, and it is a different operating model rather than a cheaper clone. Both read your activity and both draft. Troopr then runs the Jira lifecycle inside the chat thread and proposes the changes that follow for the owner to confirm. For multi-team coordination across product, design, ops and marketing on several trackers, Steady is built wider.
Run the coordination, keep the board accurate
Stop paying per delivery for a summary of work that still needs updating by hand. Add the two-way sync, the scheduled reports, the nudges and the standup that writes itself from what actually shipped. In Slack and MS Teams. See it on your team in minutes.
